Replacing a Failed FreeNAS Disk


  1. Located the failed disk (Storage - Pools - Pool Status).
  2. Take the disk offline (Storage - Pools - Pool Status - Offline).
  3. Physically remove the failed disk from the server.  Power down if your hardware doesn't support hot swapping.
  4. Replace the drive in the existing storage pool (Storage - Pools - Pool Status - Replace).  The pool will then begin resilvering.
